Whenever you set out to write a resume, you will have to pick from many resume styles available on the internet. If you try to check out for tips, you will most likely be bombarded with so many resume styles that will simply not know what to do. It is for this reason that I have chosen to outline the different styles available:
So what style of resume do we have and what are their impact in job searching. Are there any resumes that are better styled than others? And is the type of job you are applying for or organization that you want to get into matter when you are choosing a resume style?
Well, the answer is both yes and no.
The reason whey I am saying this is because there are some people who have been so much sucked into the styled resume business that they forget that the whole purpose of writing a resume is simply to show off. Even though how you speak matters, also what you speak matters. Therefore, the style will only matter if your content is good. The first thing that you therefore need to straighten up is the content. Without proper content, that style is not going to help you in any but.
There are four main types of resume styles these are: the informal resumes, creative , the formal resume and the tailor made resume.
The informal resumes are those that are written with no structure at all. It is up to you to decide it. It is usually more of a cover letter than a resume. For example, it is always advised that you do not use “I” in the resume. In such a resume, you are allowed to use “I,” since the most important thing here is not the method, but the message. You should never write an informal resume unless you know fro sure that the employer won’t mind
A formal resume is the conventional resume. When writing it, you should try not to vary the font too much. Go with Times New Roman and stick to it. This is appropriate for the more conventional companies, professions such as medicine and so forth.
The creative resume on the other and is like a hybrid of both types - the formal and informal. Here, you stick to the variety of traditional layouts and do not venture outside safe fonts such as Verdana, Arial and Calibri. You do not run the risk of being seen as a joker, but you are also different.
The last style of the resume is the tailor made resume. These resumes depend more on the company that you are applying to rather than your own considerations. Most of these are internet based resumes. However, some of the resumes that are here can also be of hard copy and would just require some typing. This usually occurs when the employer is looking for some specific traits that may not be found in the normal resume.
