Resume Objective Examples
To help you write a well-written “objective” to
your resume, here are a few resume objective examples. A resume
objective conveys to the reader what your goal or objective is in
finding employment.
Best placed below the top section of the resume where you give your
details such as name, address etc. the “objective”
is a descriptive phrase (or two) concisely stating your objective,
summarizing the position you have applied for and your main
qualifications. It is important that you write your objective clearly
and with all the seriousness it deserves because loosely written
objective statements can cause more harm than good.
But before reading these resume objective examples, it helps to write
down your qualifications, achievements and strengths - a summary of
your strengths and skills that you bring to the organization. Then
write down the positions you are seeking to apply for, your career
goals and the type of an organization you would like to work with. This
information would add clarity to what “you” bring.
Since your objective must be in line with
the company’s goals (such as sales, profitability or
cost reduction), it would help if you were acquainted with the
qualifications that the employer is searching for, the positions
available and organization goals. This will help you make the fit
between “your” strengths and the
“organizational” needs. It can be safely assumed
that you have about 10 seconds to make your mark so make that objective
stand up and give you a distinct personality. Make the recipient feel
that “this” is what he was looking for.
The objective statement adds value to the resume by highlighting your
main qualifications and informing the readers of your career goals. The
objective statement must be specific and display your knowledge and
skill set.
For example, here are some good resume objective examples:
“To obtain a position as a xxx allowing me to use my skills
in yyy.”
“To obtain a position in xx industry with responsibilities
that effectively utilize my communication, managerial, and leadership
skills.”
“ To obtain a position as a XX Specialist.”
A word of caution here. Experts however feel that it might be wiser not
to include an objective statement in situations where you qualify for
more than one position in the organization, where the job applied for
cannot be described specifically and while using the resume at job
fairs.
By stating your objective well you not only establish your individual
professional identity but you also make a statement regarding your
clarity about your career. So go ahead and write yourself an objective
that brings you an interview call and the job.
Good luck!
