The state capital Annapolis is the location of the U.S. Naval Academy. The state is famous for its fishing industry. Chesapeake Bay produces more seafood than any comparable body of water. Its leading manufactures include electrical and electronic machinery, primary metals, food product, missiles, transportation equipment and chemicals. Other important industries are Shipping, tourism, biotechnology and information technology, service, printing and publishing. Many Marylanders work for the federal government, either in offices in Maryland or in neighboring Washington, D.C. Agriculture is far less important than manufacturing in Maryland.
