Job market is always changing. Knowing what are current hot jobs and what is the market trend can help you make a better career decision. You don't want to spend several to get an education which you think will be in high demand but later turn out to be a bad decision.
So what is the current trend in job market? According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Over the 2002-12 decade, total employment in U.S. is projected to increase by 15 percent, which is slightly lower than the 17 percent employment growth during the 1992-2002 period.
Employment growth will be concentrated in the service-providing sector of the economy (education, health care, professional and business services, information, leisure, etc). In the goods-producing sector, only construction will see growth. Apparel manufacturing, textile mills, and computer and electronic product manufacturing are the goods-producing industries with the largest projected employment declines.
Professional and related occupations and service occupations-two groups at opposite ends of educational and earnings ranges-are projected to increase the fastest and to add the most jobs, accounting for more than half of total job growth over the 2002-12 decade.
Nine of the 10 fastest growing occupations are health or computer (information technology) related occupations.
