Good Resume Sample

Here is a good resume sample that you could use. A good resume promotes you well and conveys your life achievements and your aspirations in the best possible manner. It presents an accurate picture of what you are capable of and what you have done so far. Your resume convinces the reader that you are the person with the resources, qualifications and qualities required for the current job.

You have about 30 seconds to convince a potential employer that you deserve an interview through your resume. The most interesting resumes are the ones that have some energy and action. Using action verbs while writing the resume helps in adding energy. While describing your previous jobs do not merely list your responsibilities but describe how you made a difference with the responsibilities they gave you. Quantify your achievements wherever possible, highlighting the change you created. Keep the language crisp and stick to the basics. The resume need not be long to make an impression. It must be interesting enough to take you through to the interview phase.

A good resume sample will look somewhat like

John Smith
Address,
Phone number(s)
E-mail address.
(Permanent home address if required).
(Under no circumstances are you to write “RESUME” on top)

Summary of Qualifications: Highlight your key achievements to grab the attention of an employer. Must be put in such a way that the best highlights are presented upfront and in an emphatic manner.

Professional Experience: List in reverse chronological order because the interviewer wants to find out what you are up to now and not get bored with details of jobs you worked on ten years ago. The format of presentation could be “Company name, Job title, employed from and to” followed by content that includes job descriptions, your contributions and achievements. Bullet points add clarity to both writer and reader so try using bullet points.

Affiliations/Interests: Professional memberships and other relevant activities/interests.

References: Mention that references are available upon request. Attach the actual reference list, if needed, on a separate page. A good resume sample would be something as follows.

Remember that your resume reflects you. Errors, smudges, creases, inconsistencies etc reflect a careless person. Typeset, type of paper, font size, type of font, your description of yourself etc must be consistent and well thought of. Do not refer to yourself as “I” and instead use action verbs and phrases – like bullets. Write full words without abbreviations. Do not enclose photos, information about height, weight, marital status etc. There is no need to mention the previous job either. Check, recheck and have it proof read by at least two other persons who can add some value to it. Having done that, stop and take an honest look at it.

Check whether it is clear and concise. Rework on any areas that are not to satisfaction. Check for facts and be accurate. Be sure that the resume is saying exactly what you feel about your skills in the most marketable way. Check for content layout so highlights are presented upfront. Look at it and see whether you are happy to have the resume be your marketing tool. If it does not satisfy you, rework on it.

Good luck!
