Employee Interview Questions
Always be
prepared with a list of ‘employee interview
questions’ before you go to any job interview. An interview is an
opportunity for both sides to assess one another, so once the interviewer is
done with his round of questions, it's going to be your turn to ask questions. Having no questions prepared sends
the message
that you have no independent thought process – that you will
accept whatever
comes your way.
If your
questions are
answered on the company’s website or any other easily
available company information
analyze the answers and if you still have any further doubts, go ahead
and ask.
Some of your questions may be
answered during the course of the interview, and in such a case, think
for a
moment and ask if there is still something you are not clear about.
Never ask
about
salary and benefits issues until those the employer raises those
subjects.
Some
employee interview questions that you may prepare to ask
are as follows.
- What
is the role and responsibility of this job?
- What
is the normal workday for this job and what are the special demands of
this job?
- How
much travel does this job require?
- Could
you describe the working environment in your organization?
- What
are your expectations from an ideal employee in this job?
- What
are the specific problems or challenges an employee would face in this
position?
- What
are the short term and long term goals that I could accomplish in this
job?
- What
are the growth prospects for this kind of a job in this company?
- How
does the organization reward good workers?
- How
does the organization measure employee's performance and provide
feedback?
- Am
I bound by any contractual obligations as part of my job responsibility?
- What
am I directly accountable for?
- How
does an employee know he or she is performing this job to expectations
before annual merit reviews?
- What
are the future plans of the company?
- How
does this job fit in with the organization’s structure and
goals?
- What
is the organization’s promotional policy?
- Has
the organization recently laid-off employees and why was it necessary?
- May
I see an organizational chart?
- Is
there anything else I should know?
- Do
you have any concerns regarding the information I gave you during our
interview or with my resume? What can I do to alleviate them?
- When
can I expect to hear from you again?
- If
you decide to extend an offer, when would you like for me start?
- What’s
the next step?
These employee interview questions
give you a fair idea of where you are headed
and what you can expect. Feel free to add any other questions that help
you to
understand what you are getting yourself into? Good luck!
