In 2002, Connecticut had a per capita personal income of $42,468 which ranked 2nd in the United States and was 137% of the national average. The state derives most of its wealth from industry. Some important manufactures are jet engines and parts, electronics and electrical machinery, computer equipment, helicopters, textiles and silverware. Insurance is important in Connecticut; the Hartford metropolitan area is one of the industry's world centers. The Foxwoods gambling casino and the nearby Mohegan Sun casino attract many visitors to SE Connecticut and are among the largest employers in the state. Agriculture accounts for only a small share of state income.
